Selon John, \u00ab m\u00eame si certains rapports ne sont pas aussi actuels que les gens le souhaiteraient, le syst\u00e8me ferroviaire n&#8217;est pas un trou noir \u00bb. En fait, il existe plusieurs fa\u00e7ons de suivre vos wagons et vos exp\u00e9ditions. John retrace l&#8217;histoire du secteur des syst\u00e8mes de gestion des transports (TMS), qui a commenc\u00e9 en 1980 avec le d\u00e9sir de pr\u00e9senter les observations de wagons dans une interface utilisateur \u00ab esth\u00e9tiquement agr\u00e9able \u00bb. Aujourd&#8217;hui, il existe des dizaines de ces syst\u00e8mes, chacun pr\u00e9tendant \u00eatre plus fonctionnel que le pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent. Cependant, aucun d&#8217;entre eux ne permet d&#8217;obtenir des informations sur le r\u00e9seau.     <\/p><p>Ce qui manque aux TMS et autres syst\u00e8mes de suivi, c&#8217;est la capacit\u00e9 de voir les choses au niveau du r\u00e9seau et d&#8217;ajuster la planification des op\u00e9rations en fonction de l \u00ab \u00e9volution constante du r\u00e9seau.
